Empowering Girls with Knowledge
Greencal Foundation, in partnership with the National Association of Ebonyi State Medical Students (NAESMS), proudly carried out a successful rural outreach on September 27th, 2024, tagged "Pad A Girl Child." This initiative aimed to address the critical issue of menstrual hygiene among young girls in rural areas of Ebonyi State.

During this outreach, over 2500 female students at Model Girls Comprehensive Secondary School Ugwuachara received essential educational talks on menstrual hygiene. The students learned about the importance of proper menstrual care, managing their periods with confidence, and how it directly affects their health and well-being.

Distribution of Vital Hygiene Products
To support the girls in maintaining proper menstrual hygiene, the Greencal Foundation distributed packages containing sanitary pads, soaps, menstrual calendars, shaving sticks, and bags. These essential items were provided to over 2250 students who were of menstruation age, while others also received gifts to support their hygiene needs.

Understanding the Issue
Prior to the outreach, a survey conducted by Greencal Foundation revealed that many girls in these communities often missed school during their periods due to a lack of proper menstrual care. This issue has contributed to lower academic performance among female students compared to their male counterparts. Greencal's intervention is part of a broader mission to improve educational outcomes and health awareness for girls in rural communities.

Partnering for Lasting Change
The event was supported by medical professionals, including Dr. Ify Ekwunife of AE-FUTHA, who delivered extensive lectures on the importance of menstrual hygiene. Their contributions, alongside other members of NAESMS, have ensured that these girls are better equipped to manage their menstrual cycles with dignity and confidence.

Greencal's Vision for the Future
Greencal Foundation remains committed to empowering young girls through education, health initiatives, and support. Our goal is to ensure that every girl can attend school without fear or embarrassment, paving the way for a brighter, more educated future. We continue to reach out to more communities, offering both knowledge and tangible support to those in need.
