A survey at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, revealed a heartbreaking reality: numerous patients have remained hospitalized for years due to their inability to clear medical bills. These patients, despite recovering medically, cannot be discharged as they are held back by debts they cannot afford to pay. The financial burden cuts across different wards, including pediatrics, female medical ward, female surgical ward, male orthopedic ward, and male medical ward, amounting to a staggering ₦17,734,557.
Greencal Foundation aims to restore hope to these patients by organizing a fundraising campaign to clear these hospital bills. This initiative will not only allow these individuals to reunite with their families but also free up hospital resources for new patients in need of care. Partnering with generous donors and leveraging community support, we will work to ensure that no one is held captive by their inability to pay medical expenses. Through this campaign, we will negotiate with hospital management, coordinate with affected families, and provide a transparent process for fund allocation.
